Founders

Hi! my name is Sierra.

Sierra Quitiquit is a professional skier, model, environmental activist and the founder of Plastic Free Fridays. Sierra’s passion for preserving this beautiful planet stems from her intimate connection with the mountains and snow. As a professional skier, Sierra has seen firsthand the dramatic effects climate change has had on snowfall. She is committing her voice, platform and career to ensuring that snow and skiing will be around for future generations to enjoy.

“In looking at the landscape of our current climate crisis, I felt inspired to start a movement that was both an easy point of entry for people and had the potential to create a massive shift in the way people see and relate to single-use plastics. My greatest hope is that soon we will live in a world where humans understand themselves as a part of nature and not separate. And from that understanding, we can live in sustainable harmony.”

Our Team

Eva Holman

Eva is the Executive Director for Plastic Free Fridays. She is a passionate environmentalist and climate advocate with a background in plastic reduction policy and campaign development and implementation, She has worked with the city of San Francisco to pass policies banning PFAS, straws, styrofoam, plastic water bottles, and disposable plastic foodware and is working with bay area cities on reusable foodware policies for restaurants and reusable foodware in schools. Eva has led beach clean ups for Surfrider and other organizations (and on her own) for more than 12 years and has worked with schools and corporate groups on clean up and education events. The patterns she sees in plastic pollution on beaches and at neighborhood clean ups have been the catalysts for campaign and policy development and continue to be an inspiration for activism locally and globally.

Eva is the co-founder of Goods Holding Company, a San Francisco based small business that makes reusable glass jars for bulk food shopping, and she is on the Boards of Plastic Free Future and the San Francisco League of Conservation Voters. She also serves on the Executive Committee for Surfrider San Francisco and is currently writing a vegan and low climate impact cookbook of family friendly and plastic free recipes. Eva spends her free time hiking, biking, laughing and cooking with her husband John, 9 year old son William, and street mutt Curry.

Leilani Fallentine

Leilani is the Digital Media Director for Plastic Free Fridays, where she leads digital storytelling, visual strategy, and short-form content that empowers people to take simple, meaningful action toward a plastic-free world. With a Public Relations degree from Utah Valley University, she specializes in translating complex environmental issues into hopeful, accessible messages that inspire behavior change.

Her love for environmental work began in college, where she helped lead major service initiatives focused on conservation and community impact. Born and raised in San Diego, Leilani witnessed firsthand the effects of plastic pollution on the coastlines she grew up exploring. She has practiced Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for over 13 years and volunteered with UCSD’s Mindfulness Program to help integrate mindfulness into school systems — a practice that anchors her belief that noticing our impact is the first step in changing it.

An avid nature lover, she finds joy in ocean walks, snorkeling, diving, hiking, and exploring second-hand fashion. She believes that when we feel connected to nature, we feel called to protect it — and that approachable habits like Plastic Free Fridays make sustainability something everyone can participate in.

Nic Brandenberger

Nic is a professional brand builder, marketing leader and entrepreneur, currently empowering people and creating economic opportunity for all, at eBay. But first of all, he is a son, brother, partner, friend, ally, lover of peace, keeper of calm, and defender of good. He’s generally passionate about things mother nature has created, like Siberian Tigers, Manta rays, Sequoia trees, waterfalls, alpine mountain ranges, salt deserts, you name it. But especially whatever gravity makes more fun, like snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking or diving. He also loves photography, and cooking… And so here’s the thing: All of what he loves depends on a healthy, balanced and sustainable environment. And that is why he’s actively supporting and working for amazing causes like #PlasticFreeFridays.

Jaelin Kauf

Jaelin is our Graphic Design and Social Media Intern at PFF and a professional Freestyle skier. She grew up in both Alta WY and Steamboat Springs CO and now lives in Salt Lake City UT for skiing. As a competitive and professional skier, Jaelin spends most of her time traveling the World in constant search of snow. Every year it seems to become harder and harder to find resorts, and areas that are able to host training and competitions due to conditions and lack of snow.

With the rest of her time, Jaelin is going to school for Graphic Design and surfing, biking, and taking full advantage of everything mother nature has to offer.

“I believe that it is up to each of us to make small, conscious decisions every day to be better, to do better and to live more sustainable lives.”
